This is a bad hotel run by highly unethical and disreputable people! I have a story that I'm sure is shared by many others. Wanting to secure a hotel for the eclipse, I reserved a room here a year in advance. A month later, in September 2016, my wife and I drove through Alliance and stopped by the hotel to get a printed confirmation form. In spite of the fact that the hotel appeared very dirty and run down, we decided that we would keep with our plans to stay there for the August 21st 2017 eclipse (after all, the room was cheap and prices had started to jump considerably everywhere else). Several times through the following months I called and verified that my reservation was still valid. In June I gave them my credit card number. Then I called on August 13th, just 8 days before the eclipse, to verify once more, but was told that my reservation had been cancelled! The claim was made that all reservations without credit cards had been cancelled. I explained that I had given my credit card number, and that I had a confirmation form that was printed by them, but "Mike" didn't care - my reservation was no longer valid. It's hard to describe such conduct without the use of obscenities, but certainly the word "reprehensible" comes to mind. It was fortunate that I found out ahead of time, and could seek other options along the path of totality, and it may have been a blessing in disguise considering the reports by others of bed bugs. But I have to wonder if there were people that showed up not knowing their reservation had been cancelled. I'm sure that would have been a very ugly scene indeed. Bottom line: Avoid this hotel like the plague! They are not worthy of your business!
To be fair people told me they just started a new management, so I wish them best of luck and advice for being hasty in renewing the motel.
This was the worst experience I've ever had at a motel and I've traveled for a living! Bugs crawling on the walls and ceilings. A "no smoking" room must have become no smoking about 10 minutes before we checked in. We have asthma and allergies and this is NOT a negotiable item for us. There were cigarette burns through the comforter and blankets and ashes on the floor. I cannot say that the bugs are not bed begs, they were every where and awful. Seriously crawling on the walls and ceilings when we woke up in the morning. Holes in the carpet, holes in the walls, light fixture falling off the ceiling, and bugs coming through the holes, etc. I cannot recommend this place to ANYONE. The A.C. was out in the office and it was 112 degrees outside, seriously. I felt awful for the guy who was trying to check us in. We are living in dread of the thought we brought bed bugs home. NEVER AGAIN.
All Staff of the hotel was very helpful and friendly. Carhenge is nearby and it looks beautiful.
Definitely a NO. This plase was once a nice motel, with wide and comfortable rooms. Today though is way overpriced for how it appears. Mice traps in the room, dirty coffe mug, leaking wc, a fist hole in the bathroom door, no fan in the bathroom, dirty carpet.... all for 90 dollar.
I will recommend it..
This place doesn't even deserve one star! I had a room reserved here for the eclipse. I called mid July to confirm things. All was fine. They had my reservation and my phone number. I tried to give them my credit card but they said they would call if the owner decided it was needed. Mike was very nice at the time. I called again today, Aug 16 since we were going in a few days, to see if they want my credit card info. Today when I finally got ahold of Mike he said the owner canceled all reservations without a credit card. For all I know Mike is the owner and realized how much they could charge for rooms after they realized how popular the eclipse was going to be. I told him I couldn't believe Alliance NE was turning crooked over this. Mike said, "Whatever lady!" and hung up! I immediately called the Chamber of Commerce. Spoke with a very helpful lady named Maria. Unfortunately this piece of crap motel isn't part of the Chamber. Go figure! Someday I will go there just to come face to face with Mike!
I had stayed here during my visit to SD. Bed was comfortable room was clean
